About 24Design
We sell jewellery designs. You customise a piece in 3D, buy the design, and take it to a jeweller to make. We never cast, set, ship or handle returns.
What you are buying
A design, as a download. Not a finished ring in a box, and not a quote for one.
What arrives depends on who you are. A private buyer receives a specification sheet: the exact design, the exact size, the measured volume and the weight in the metal you chose, written so the jeweller who reads it makes the piece you bought rather than an approximation of it. A jeweller working on the platform receives the production geometry and casts from it directly.
The price you see is the price of the design. It does not include metal, because we are not selling you metal, and it does not include labour, because we are not doing the work. Both are settled between you and whoever makes the piece.
Why every size is measured
A ring is not resized by scaling the model. Scaling a ring up grows the head and the stone seat along with the finger, which is not what a larger ring is. Each size here is produced by splicing the shank, so the band changes and the rest of the piece stays as designed.
Every size that comes out of that is then measured on its own: its finished volume, its as-cast volume, its thinnest wall, its triangle count. The weight quoted for a size 11 is a measurement of a size 11, never a size 7 multiplied by a factor. That is the difference between a number your jeweller can price from and one they have to check.
Why some sizes are not offered
As a band stretches, its wall gets thinner. Past a point it is below what can be cast reliably, and at that point we stop offering the size rather than selling you a file that will disappoint whoever tries to make it.
So the range differs from piece to piece, and a design that stops at a size 10 is not an oversight. Every combination the editor lets you reach has already passed that check. You cannot configure something unmakeable here, which is the whole reason the options are a list rather than a free-form editor.
What the licence allows
You are buying the right to make the piece. You are not buying the right to pass the file on: no tier permits redistributing, reselling, sublicensing or sharing the file itself.
Within that, you can come back to a design you own as often as you like. Re-download it, save it in a different metal or size, work with it for a client. Owning it once means owning it, and none of that costs anything further.
A design bought by somebody at a practice belongs to the practice, not to the person who happened to press buy. A colleague invited afterwards has the same access to it as everyone who was already there. That is deliberate: a purchase that leaves with whoever made it is a purchase a business cannot rely on.
Refunds
A design is refundable until you download it. Downloading is the point the thing changes hands, and it cannot be undone, so it is the point the refund ends.
Your orders page says which of your purchases are still refundable, so you never have to guess or ask. If you bought three designs and downloaded one, the other two are still refundable.
What we do not do
We do not cast, set, polish, size, ship, insure or handle returns of physical jewellery. There is no workshop behind this. If a piece is made badly, we are not the people who made it, and we would not be able to put it right.
We also do not price the finished piece or take a share of what your jeweller charges. We do not see that number. What the metal costs on the day, what the labour is worth and what margin they work to are theirs to decide.
If you are a jeweller
There is a workspace as well as a shop. It configures a piece with a client, quotes it from live metal prices and the measured volume, takes an approval that records exactly what was agreed, and releases the production file once entitlement is in place.
Every quote is reconstructible from what was recorded at the time: the metal price snapshot, the pricing rule, the measured weight. A price you cannot account for six months later is a price you cannot defend to a client.
